A Day with Grandma Young

"The PUPPET MASTER"

Mom took us to try out a new place for lunch called "Morg's Diner" and it was delish! They had REAL MILKSHAKES that were divine and even had some jukebox music playing so OF COURSE we had to put in a quarter and pick three songs. We picked, "Sugar, Sugar"... "Born to be Wild"... and "In the Jungle"! It was really fun! Thanks, Mom!!!

Gram and Eden

Ollie and Me
Jaren sat here and every now and again he would dance with the music while we sang along!

Eden and Ollie. They loved being able to choose what songs to sing to!

PHELPS YOUTH PAVILLION

After lunch we went to the Youth Pavillion downtown and had fun trying out the different centers. This was a one room schoolhouse with benches and slates to write on. Ma... you look a little goofy in this pic! :o)

Eden and Gram posing as the couple in "American Gothic".

Milkmaid Eden

Ollie loading up some bales of "hay"!

Eden and Ollie picking veggies and flowers from the garden. The dirt is actually small black pieces of rubber.

Grandma and Oliver in the Time Machine. The last time I was on this, it shook me so much that I had to use the restroom afterward!

Oliver making some rainbow design on the computer. They had lots of things, so much so that we didn't even see them all!

Jaren LOVED playing the bongo drums!

"Good Afternoon, Miss Eden!"

This is what it would look like if I had twins!

Jaren and me in the infant room.

Cultures of the world. I think Eden was in the Mexico house. They were making play tortillas.
Oliver trying some noodles! Sweet dinner jacket!

Oliver and Eden loved trying out ALL of the puppets! I love Ollie's face in this picture!

Eden making a noodle necklace for me! How thoughtful! Both her and Oliver LOVE doing arts and crafts!

Oliver and Grandma designing their own animal pictures.

Soccer and Swimming With Friends

We finally went to Saandi's soccer game and met up with his Dad, who was the coach, and his sisters, Sanda and Amanda.

Here are Ollie, crazy boy, Sanda and Jaren. (The two girls just LOVE Jaren! They always give him hugs when we are leaving my mom's house. Usually he's already in his car seat!)

Here is Saandi going for the ball. He is #10. The only time Oliver plays soccer is when he's at my mom's house. I never played soccer, so he's learned most about it through Saandi teaching him.

Amanda and Eden playing together. They would just wander around playing while I sat with Jaren. They were just interested in each other! It was a beautiful day!

Jaren and Grandma Young playing at the pool! We would usually go during "Toddler Time" when we had the baby side of the pool for an hour until the pool actually opened. This was more relaxing for us, less kids... less splashing... you get the idea! I used to just hold him all the time, but I bought this floatie with his birthday money from Grandpa and Grandma Boardsen. He absolutely LOVED it!

Eden, Sayde (was in Eden's PreK class), Sanda and Amanda. Too cute!!!

"Take Me Out to the BALL GAME!!!"

Oliver learning how to hit it off of the tee during the first day of practice. He's never been in T-Ball, but he just picked up on the game as a little boy! He's loved baseball ever since! I FINALLY didn't procrastinate this summer! Oliver and Coach Wayne.

Oliver practicing running the bases! Great Grandma Young bought his kleats at a garage sale the summer before and he was so excited to wear them! It was so funny to watch how fast he hustled to home plate. When he ran... little puffs of dust would shoot out from the back of his feet! He ALWAYS hustled when he hit the ball or when he'd be chasing the ball in the outfield!

Oliver and Tyler, a friend from church, got to be on the same team, "The Express". They are both going to be in 2nd grade this upcoming school year.

Playing first base.

Ollie trying his hand at 3rd base. He throws well and usually hits his target. We've been playing catch alot this spring and summer. He's got an arm on him!

Keeping his eye on the batter so he can kick up some dirt running to third!

This was SOOOO HILARIOUS!!! Oliver would bend down when he was on the base and sweep the dirt off of the plate! I think he may have a tad of my OCD!!! :o)

Asking Coach Wayne what position they are playing next!

I took this picture of Oliver before he hit his home run! What a cutie!

A line drive down first base!

Ollie bringing up the rear in the "Good Game" lineup!
Oliver's friend Saandi even came to watch Ollie play!

VIDEO: Oliver hits and makes it to first! Watch those speedy little legs of his!

"A Million Balloons and Performing Baboons..." Wait... No Baboons...

FUN WITH BALLOONS!
I thought I'd buy some balloons and brush up on my balloon art that I have been wanting to improve on. My brother and I made some for Oliver's 5th birthday party and it was so fun to see the kids faces when they got one for themselves!

Here are some things that I've been able to create:
"Swan"
"Swan in Heart" - A friend of mine taught me how to do this one.
It's a bit tricky."Three-Colored Ball"

"Four Petal Flower"

First Attempt at "Poodle"

Second Attempt at "Poodle" and "Beaded Dog Collar & Leash"

"Hat" "Pirate Sword" "Sheath"

After all of that practicing, I put it to good use creating lots of swords and sheaths as well as hats! Needless to say, I didn't really get to chat with the adults at the cook-out!

Oliver made his own "Weenie Dog"

Eden made... well... something she was very proud of! :o)

I guess it must run in the family! Maybe we are circus freaks by nature... who knows! We had LOTS of balloon animal remnants lying around our house for days! Don't worry, Jaren didn't choke on anything! Fun times!

Ed's Bringin' Sexy Back... WHAT?!?

We had stopped by our friend's house and spent an evening chatting and playing games... then out popped a wig! You guessed it... The Redneck Wig came out to play! First Reggie had it on and the color almost matched her REAL hair! Then Ed put it on and I think I almost wet myself laughing so hard! We were all in hysterics!

"Make LOVE to the camera!!!"
Jaren looks like a mix between "Chucky" and a "Cabbage Patch" doll!
And somehow we've "saved the best for last..."
